Senior Meeting Agenda 2-9-11

1. Mitchell’s thoughts
   1. I have asked people to volunteer to be on committees to complete the tasks
   2. Brett and Carmel (Class President and Vice-President) will be overseeing all committees
   3. I have asked several students to join this group to help us with organizing and implementing our ideas

1. Prom theme
   1. The members of the Senior Council present at this meeting decided that “Secret Garden” would be the theme for the prom
   2. We decided this because it is relatively neutral so no one will feel left out, but we could still do some interesting stuff associated with who we are and what we try to do
   3. Prom will be held at Barrister House on 8 ½ and Harper in St. Clair Shores. Brett was able to use his personal connections to get us a good deal. (Thanks Brett!!)
   4. Prom Decorations
      1. Clare, Shanice, and Angela will be on the decorations committee
      2. Any other members of the Council who would like to take part should contact Angela
      3. Senior T shirt
         1. Trail volunteered to head this committee
         2. He will contact 2D art students (Lindsey Burcar in particular) for design submissions and will contact Brett by February 18 with results
         3. Senior All Night Party
            1. We will be having an all-night party at the school on April 15.
            2. Carmel is working in creating and collecting suggestions for a playlist so we won’t need a DJ
            3. Brett is working on contacting a company that rents Moon bounces and other ideas for entertainment
            4. Mitchell has discussed the idea with Mr. Spayde and we need to be sure that we have commitments from staff so that we can guarantee at least one staff member is at the event at all times. We should also get parent volunteers
            5. Mitchell has contacted and booked a photographer for the event. The Council discussed getting or making props and sets for ‘funny’ pictures
            6. Senior Trip to Cedar Point
               1. Brett and Carmel will be harassing Mrs. Hopkins and Mr. Rebb to get commitments to chaperone this event
               2. This event will NOT be a senior class sponsored event and seniors who wish to participate will have to pay for the trip on their own
               3. If you did not attend this meeting be sure to get your email address to Angela

Graduation Information

Senior Dinner

The senior class dinner will take place on Thursday June 3 at 4:30. It will be at the Lakeland Banquet & Event Center on Nine Mile in St. Clair Shores. (Across from South Lake) 21801 East Nine Mile Road St. Clair Shores, MI 48080

Rehearsal

Graduation Rehearsal will take place on Thursday, June 3. It will be at 6:00 at South Lake High School auditorium. 21900 East Nine Mile Road St. Clair Shores, MI 48080

Graduation

The graduation ceremony will take place at the South Lake High School on Friday, June 4 at 7:00

Senior T-Shirt Design

Prom Location

This year’s prom will be held at the Mirage banquet center in Clinton Township on May 14.

Herff Jones (Graduation Items)

Graduation announcemnents and Cap & Gown are being offered to our seniors through Herff Jones/Graduate Services. Our representative is Jerry Boehms. He can be reached at (734)699-4757 or at gradservhj@aol.com

He explained the options to seniors at a meeting on October 5th. If you were not there please see Mr. Mitchell to get the information.

A representative from Herff Jones will be at the school during Lunch A and B on Monday October 19 and Tuesday October 20 to take orders for graduation announcements and/or cap and gown.
All seniors are expected to pay senior dues of $115. The senior dues will cover the cost of a cap & gown (with a tassel.) ALL seniors must turn in an order form with their sizes for gowns. Caps are one size fits all. If you are only ordering the cap & gown there is no need to pay a deposit on October 13. However, if you would like to order additional items (announcements, rings, extra tassels, etc.) you must pay at least a $75 deposit on October 13th.

Cookie Dough Fundraiser

Forms are available from Mr. Mitchell. Orders are due to Mr. Mitchell by November 25. (There will be an opportunity to turn in orders on December 2 also, if you would like to keep the order forms over Thanksgiving.)
The orders will be delivered to the school on December 9.

Prices are:

Cookie Dough – $12 per tub. 2 tubs for $20.

Popcorn – $8 per tub.

Fudge cakes – $10 per tub.

Senior fundraisers

Mr. Mitchell has the order forms for the cookie dough fundraiser. You can get yours by visiting him after school.

Mr. Mitchell and Mrs. Hopkins are attempting to coordinate volunteers for lunchtime fundraisers. We would like to have parents volunteer time to help us sell/ pick up/ organize lunchtime sales

Information for the class of 2010

September 2009

Dear AAW Class of 2010 and Parents of the Class of 2010,

The Class of 2010 will be fundraising for Prom all year! Our first major fundraiser is a Cookie dough fundraiser. Order forms will be available from Mr. Mitchell by November 2, orders will be due on November 25, and they will be delivered to the school on Wednesday, December 9.

 On Monday, October 5, Herff Jones will be doing a presentation about graduation items for the seniors during 3rd Hour in the gym. Students will be bringing home order information on that day. Herff Jones will then return on Monday and Tuesday, October19th and 20th during Lunch A & B to take orders.

 Senior dues for the Class of 2010 are $115. Senior dues must be paid in full by Friday, January 22nd, 2010. Checks can be made payable to: Arts Academy in the Woods. All monies should be handed into Mr. Mitchell or the main office so that you can get a receipt.

Senior dues will cover the cost of graduation items and expenses, a personalized yearbook, a Senior T-Shirt, as well as the Senior Dinner, on the day of Graduation Rehearsal. (Prom tickets are NOT included in senior dues.)
